Summary

Scientific title

Validation of the Cairns Prediction Model of Conversion from Laparoscopic to Open Cholecystectomy

Abstract for the general public

Keyhole gallbladder surgery is the standard practice nowadays. However, many patients went on to be converted into open surgery. Prediction models looking at risk factors in Cairns patients have been developed to determine whether keyhole or open surgery is appropriate. Our study aims to validate the model with patients from Townsville.
